Lazbuddie has deep roots in Parmer County, founded in 1924 when local business owners Luther "Laz" Green and Andrew "Buddie" Sherley opened their store. The community grew around that original store, eventually adding a post office, school, and essential services like cotton gins and a grain elevator. Today, Lazbuddie Independent School District serves as the focal point for the surrounding rural area, with six-man football bringing fans together at Lazbuddie High School. The community also holds a unique place in weather history, three tornadoes touched down here on May 10, 1991, captured on film by local farmers, followed by six simultaneous tornadoes on June 4, 1995.
